Accra, Oct 28, GNA - Samuel Osei Kuffour's long wish for a recall to the Black Stars has finally turned into a reality after coach Ratomic Djukovic named him among the 21 players invited for the team's international friendly billed against the Saudi national team next month.
The call up of the player is the first after his outburst against the coach and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) prior to the Stars World Cup qualifier against Uganda played in Kampala early this year. Kuffour had remained an influential member of the team until he chose the media to label the coach and the GFA as liars when he was left out of the team that drew with the East Africans.
The embattled outspoken defender insisted the GFA and the Serbian lied about his health prior to the game, an allegation that attracted the furore of the coach. Djukovic subsequently tasked the former Bayern Munich star to apologise or forget a place in the Stars. The now Roma defender has made the headlines in recent times in both local and international media with a glittering performance for his Italian side, which served as a springboard in his bid to catch the fancy of the coach. Kuffour last played for the Stars in Kumasi where the Ghanaians sold a goalless drawn game against the Democratic Republic of Congo in the group qualifier, which the Stars eventually won with 21 points. The team departs Accra on Wednesday, November 9 and returns a week later. Other invited players are George Owu (Ashgold), Philemon McCarthy (Feyenoord), Dan Quaye (Hearts), Issah Ahmed (Kotoko), Daniel Edusei (Greece), Francis Dickoh (Denmark), Abubakari Yakubu, Anthony Obodai and Mathew Amoah (Holland). The rest are Alex Techie Mensah (Switzerland), Asamoah Gyan (Italy), Godwin Attram, Daniel Coleman (Saudi Arabia), Michael Essien (England) Laryea Kingston (Russia ), Joetex Frimpong (Nigeria), Stephen Appiah (Turkey) and Haminu Dramani (Serbia Montenegro).Accra, Oct 28, GNA - Samuel Osei Kuffour's long wish for a recall to the Black Stars has finally turned into a reality after coach Ratomic Djukovic named him among the 21 players invited for the team's international friendly billed against the Saudi national team next month.
