Ghana midfielder Bernard Kumordzi claims the financial constraints of Greek side Panionios forced him to sign for French outfit Dijon.
He arrived in Dijon last Friday and completed his three-and-a half year move on New Year’s Day.
Kumordzi came close to joining the French Ligue 1 outfit last summer but the Greek Super League side were reluctant to release him.
“They did not want to release me, but that was not possible financially. There was chaos,” the 26-year-old said.
Greece’s economy is in turmoil and that has had an effect on the country’s football clubs as well.
The offensive midfielder has been nicknamed ”Kumo” by the French press.
