Reports say English Premier League giants Arsenal are intent on signing Ghanaian midfielder Bennard Yao Kumordzi from Greek side Panionios.
The Gunners have been monitoring the former youth international for the past two years and are now convinced about his qualities mastery.
Steve Rowley, chief scout at Arsenal, is quoted as saying: "Kumordzi poses special qualities that Arsenal can take advantage of. He has great height as usual of many Africans that come to Arsenal, and most of all, he has special abilities to break any defence with his sleep attacking midfield prowess. And even though the Greek league is not as strong as that of England, Kumordzi’s consistency and mindset is marvellous and deserves attention"
He added that: "With his current scoring and attacking abilities, he is among the best players in Greece and can easily reach 12-15 goals per season in England as a midfielder because when there is quality around you as a good player, scoring goals becomes very easy."
But Arsenal face stiff opposition from local giants Olympiakos and Panathaniakos who have all tabled bids.
The player's agent Gerome Andersson, who has strong links with the Gunners, remains tight-lipped for now.
"I am aware of other interest from Olympiakos, Paok and Greek champions Panathinaikos but the next few weeks will prove vital."
