South Africa-based defender Kwabena Edusei has been handed a debut call up to the Black Stars as a replacement for John Boye, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The 27-year-old will be amongst the Black Stars squad to be named this week the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Guinea next month.

Edusei gets the chance to impress at full international level following the decision of Maxwell Konadu to drop John Boye who has just returned from injury.

The interim Black Stars coach doesn’t want to risk the Erciyesspor defender who only make a return from a two-week injury layoff over the weekend.

Edusei who played for Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko has been a regular performer since joining Mpumalanga Black Aces at the start of the PSL season.

He has made four starts out of the seven PSL games for Black Aces so far this season.

The penalty kick specialist impressed with the home-based Black Stars at the CHAN tournament staged earlier this year in South Africa.

Ghana will play the home and away game of the 2015 AFCON qualifier against Guinea next month.

The Black Stars are currently joint-top of Group E in the qualifiers alongside Uganda on four points.
