Juventus star Kwadwo Asamoah will return in 2017 despite reports that the midfielder has started training.
Reports from the team’s camp ahead of their game with Pescara over the weekend indicate that the influential Ghana midfielder will not play until 2017.
This means that the intelligent midfielder will be out for the rest of 2016.
“Kwadwo Asamoah, a victim of an inflammation of the operated knee. He will return in 2017,” an Italian newspaper reported.
Kwadwo Asamoah had hoped to be injury-free for the 2016/17 season after suffering various injuries last season but suffered another knee injury last month in an Italian Serie A game.
Asamoah picked up the injury in Juventus’ 1-0 against Palermo and the club confirmed that the player will be out for some time.
"The extent of the injuries sustained by Daniele Rugani and Kwadwo Asamoah were clarified following medical examinations today," the club’s statement read last month.
"The tests revealed that Asamoah has ruptured the meniscus cartilage. He is expected to undergo surgery and anticipated to return within around 45 days,” the statement added when the player got injured in September.
