Ex-Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has hit back at Adam Kwarasey saying if anyone was to complain about the lack of international playing time, it should be Fatau Dauda.

The 54-year-old was responding to various allegations leveled against him in his first interview following his dismissal as coach of the Black Stars. Appiah presided over Ghana’s woeful showing at the 2014 World Cup where the Black Stars failed to get out of the group for the first time since its debut appearance at the finals back in 2006.

Ghana’s early exit in Brazil was saddled with issues of player agitation over delayed payment of appearance fees.

Appiah also had to deal with serious disciplinary issues, leading to the sacking of Sulley Muntari and Kevin-Prince Boateng.

Adam Kwarasey was one of the players to make unsavory remarks over the Ghana technical team after the World Cup.

He was dropped to the bench in favour of Fatau Dauda – who had struggled for game time at club level – after Ghana’s opening group defeat to the USA.

The Stromagodset captain questioned the selection policy in the Black Stars with the belief he deserved to start every game at the finals on the back of his consistent displays at club level.

Rumours are even rife that Kwarasey’s axing was influenced by some senior players using the Norway-based goalkeeper’s deficiency in speaking the local dialect as reason.

But Kwesi Appiah in his rebuttal says Adam Kwarasey suggests Adam Kwarasey had no basis to complaint.

“If anyone was to complaint about not playing, it should be Fatau because he has been keeping for us for two years,” he said in an interview on Metro TV’s Good Evening Ghana show.

“But I left him out of the game against USA.”

Appiah has since parted ways with the Ghana FA as the coach of the Black Stars.

He is however in the process of finalizing his severance package.
