Goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey’s return to the Black Stars has been delayed after he was excluded from Ghana’s squad to face Canada in a friendly.

The in-form Portland Timbers gloves man was expected to end his 16-month self-imposed international exile with the Black Stars set to play in the United States.

But the 27-year-old was not named in Avram Grant’s squad for the exhibition match to be played at the RFK Stadium in Washington, DC.

It is still unknown why the Norway-born was not part of the squad.

The Ghana FA claims it has received a letter from Kwarasey’s club asking for him to be excused because of a crucial MLS match after the break.

Kwarasey was Ghana’s first choice goalkeeper in their opening 2014 FIFA World Cup match against USA but was later dropped for Fatau Dauda who was between the sticks for matches against Portugal and Germany.

Ghana’s next match will be next month in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against either Lesotho or Comoros Islands.
