Ghana head coach James Kwesi Appiah has revealed his contract as Black Stars head coach will run out after the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The 53-year-old took charge as Ghana head coach in April 2012 after the departure of Serbian Goran Stevanovic and has guided the Black Stars to claim third straight World Cup berth.

Reports in the media claim the Ghana FA was planning to replace the former Ghana captain as head coach but officials in Accra have rejected the reports, and distanced themselves from it.

Appiah reveals his contract as Ghana coach will expire at the end of the 2014 event in Rio.

“My contract will run out after the Brazil 2014 World Cup,” he told Accra-based Oman FM.

Appiah’s performance has drew huge praises across various quarters in Ghana and Africa for his performance.

The former Ghana international defender has been hailed for his incredible achievement as head coach of the West African giants after leading them to become the highest scoring side in the qualifiers.

The Ghana Football Association has reiterated its commitment to support the soft-spoken coach with FA President Kwesi Nyantakyi revealing plans to upgrade his standards before the commencement of the Brazil World Cup.
