Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kwesi Nyantakyi may be a sad man following the exit of the local Black Stars from the Championship of African Nations (CHAN) tournament, but the man who prides himself as one of the youngest Football Association Presidents in Africa is very optimistic of winning the slot to serve on the Confederation of African Football Executive Committee.*

Nyantakyi who led the main Black Stars to the last eight of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and currently the continent’s number one side as well as placed 15th in FIFA world rankings, believes he is in line to follow the steps of the late Ohene Djan and Sam Okyere who once served on the Executive Committees of the continental bodies.

One of the high points of the GFA boss is the way his administration have utilised the FIFA Goal project funds and his relationship with other FA bosses in Africa. Recently he invited a couple of African FA chairmen to witness the Ghana / FIFA Goal Three project, where he was praised for the facilities at Prampram.

He has hinted of founding a football academy to fully make use of the facilities at the Ghanaman Center so that the place is opened up to the nation, the continent and world at large. Mr. Nyantakyi is also seeking to run for another term as president of the GFA, and he is the flying man, hoping to sweep most of the 123 votes from the delegates when they do go to Congress later this year.

In another development, one Makkenzy Golightly, a juvenile coach trained in England has sent his letter of application to contest for the highly respected GFA presidency. He has told yours truly there needs to be a change and football is not for only the clubs as kids in schools and members of churches also play football. "I am coming to speak for the less advantaged like the security agencies, schools, churches and those who play gutter to gutter, I will be the one to speak for the street kids where we get most of our stars," he said.

Mr. Golightly expressed that the contest between him, Sowah Odotei and Kwesi Nyantakyi will be a shocking event. "I will shock the nation," he has confidently declared. *
