Lack of facilities and poor wages affecting league growth - Laryea

Former Hearts of Oak midfielder, Laryea Kingston believes the lack of sporting facilities and poor wages are huge contributory factors for the slow growth of the Ghana Premier league.

According to Laryea Kingston, “the nation lacks sporting facilities and that has accounted for the poor state of top flight football. The talents are there in abundance, but the training pitches, the stadiums, gyms and other sporting facilities to develop these talents are not there.

Apart from the few national stadiums in some few regions across the country, how many clubs can boast of a quality sports facility that will motivate players to stay with the club or in the league?

“Also, the wage structures for the local clubs accounts for the poor state of the league currently. How can a premier league player be struggling to get better accommodation for himself?

I am told players salaries can delay for like 3 months or more before being paid and when they are paid it is done in bits. How will you keep the best in the league when their colleagues are out there enjoying their football and being paid better? If wages are well scheduled and payment is made on regular basis, not many will depart for greener pastures.”
