Scottish Premier League side Heart of Midlothian have released Ghana international Laryea Kingston who is out-of-contract.
Kingston, believed to be one of the highest earners at the club, will free up significant funds within their wage bill by leaving.
The 29-year-old, who is fighting for a place in Ghana’s final squad for this summer’s World Cup, had already resigned himself to leaving Edinburgh.
Kingston joined Hearts in 2007 from Russian outfit Terek Gronzy and made 51 appearances and scored 8 goals.
Three other players whose contracts have run-out have also been released by the club.
“These players that are out of contract have now moved on and we wish them all the best,” said Hearts boss Jim Jefferies of their departures.
“We have got to concentrate now on the players that are here and the players that will come in to strengthen us.
“The wage bill will be greatly reduced and the way you can guarantee that is to assess the people out of contract.”
