Laryea Kingston has told All Sports he will never give up on earning a recall to the Black Stars because he has unfinished business with the national team. The star midfielder has not featured for Ghana since he was controversially left out of Milovan Rajevac’s final 23 man squad for last year’s World Cup but Laryea remains keen on a return.

“Sure I will like to play for the Black Stars again, why not? I’m still a Ghanaian, I’m still active and have a lot to offer. Like every footballer I also like to play for my country and if they give me the chance again, I will not hesitate to honour it,” Kingston told All Sports over the weekend.

He is also backing the Black Stars to beat Congo next month as the momentum for qualification to next year’s African Cup of Nations gets into full gear. “Seriously this is our moment and we need to maintain the good start by beating Congo to get closer to qualification. I’m with the team in spirit and praying for them,” Kingston said.

His contract at Scottish side Hearts of Mithlodian having expired without him finding a right suitor back in the January transfer window, Laryea Kingston has been in Ghana with a dream to help former club Hearts of Oak in the Glo Ghana Premier League. However, the Ghana FA’s inability to get him International Transfer Certificate (ITC) clearance meant Laryea couldn’t feature for his beloved Hearts.

Now he says a return to Europe is on the cards, though he will just not disclose the club. “I came to Ghana because I couldn’t find the right deal in January so I said I’m here to just sit down so it will be better to help my former club because I didn’t like their results. I’m also a big fan of Hearts so deciding to play for them again was very easy. I’m a free agent so I don’t know why the GFA could not issue my ITC.

“I am a supporter of Hearts but I am a soccer player and have no contract with them so I will just go back to Europe when the transfer window opens again in the summer. I know the club and the country but I cannot reveal it now,” Laryea told All Sports.
