Ajax Cape Town have confirmed that newly signed Ghanaian defender Lawrence Lartey is eligible to start playing two months after signing for the South African top-flight side.
The 21-year-old signed a two-year deal with the Mother City outfit in November from Ghanaian club AshGold, and had been waiting for his work permit to arrive to enable him play for his new club.
While Ajax are delighted Lartey is now available for selection, the player's readiness will first be tested in a MutiChoice Diski Challenge game against Bloemfontein Celtic at Cape Town Stadium this afternoon.
The game will serve as a curtain-raiser for the senior teams of the two sides later this evening.
"Great news for Lawrence Lartey today as he will be eligible to feature in our @Asidlalimatch today!," Ajax tweeted from their official Twitter account.
Coach Roger De Sa and his technical team also plan to use Lartey in their CAF Confederation Cup campaign this year.
The Urban Warriors begin their continental journey away from home against G.D. Sagrada Esperanca of Angola on the weekend of 12-14 February.
