Defender Lee Addy remains hopeful of his chances of playing for Ghana at the 2014 World Cup despite his consistent exclusion from the Black Stars team.

The 23-year-old has not been considered for national team duty for close to six months despite being a regular in the Croatian top flight with Dynamo Zagreb.

The ex-Berekum Chelsea player who is considered a utility defender now faces a real prospect of not making Ghana’s squad for next year’s World Cup in Brazil.

But Addy believes he still has a chance to gatecrash into the Ghana squad for the World Cup.

“I have been in constant touch with the team and the response is that I will be given a chance,” he told Accra based Montie FM.

“I will keep working hard at my club in preparing myself to take the opportunity whenever given.

“I still believe I can make it to the World Cup because I have been with the team before so going back will not be anything new to me.”

The trend of national team call ups by coach Akwasi Appiah over time makes Addy’s ambition of playing at the World Cup a bit farfetched.

Appiah has consistently stuck with a crop of players in his defence and now even faces a dilemma of who to drop once everyone becomes available again – with regulars Isaac Vorsah, Jonathan Mensah and John Boye to make injury returns.
