Accra, April 11, GNA - Premiership campaigners, Liberty Professional are set to pitch camp in neighbouring Togo as part of their preparations towards the second round of the Onetouch Premiership. The 10-day camping period will see the Dansoman-based side pitch their strength against some Togolese clubs to fine-tune their preparations for the remainder of the season set to commence on April 27.
Cecil Jones Attuquayefio, Technical Director of the club, who disclosed this to GNA Sports on Friday after their training session at the Carl Reindorf Park said his outfit was working hard to finalise arrangements for the teams' departure. He said the team was expected to leave by Monday with the full complement of their stars, including some newly registered players for the final phase of preparations for the second round. The veteran trainer noted said his team had been preparing on the quiet by engaging in regular friendlies against premiership and lower division clubs. "We have been engaging in more trial matches in preparation for the second round."
Coach Attuquayefio observed that the club had roped in 14 new players in their pursuit of building a formidable team to take a respectable position on the league standings. "We have not added any big names, as you know our philosophy is to go for young players we can nurture for the future," said the former Africa's best coach.
The new players include three former players who are seeking a re-launch of their career after some stints outside namely; Razak Ibrahim (formerly of Empoli and a member of Black Starlets that won bronze in New Zealand in 1999), Masawudu Mumuni (formerly of BEC Tero Sasana, Thailand) and Derek Debrah (formerly of Malaysian side, Telecom).
Others are Mawuli Tuglo - B.T International, Nana Yaw Anaafo - Young Hasaacas, Yakubu Seidu - St. Mirren, Evans Frimpong - Liberty Babies, Osei Barnie - Ebony International and Latifu Abubakari - Bibiani All Stars. The rest are Stephen Okine and Kofi Nketia both of Asante Akyem South Football Academy (AASFA) Sekyi, Rennell Adjetey Adjei - Nungua United and Daniel Djangmah - Flying Jets. Meanwhile, the team is expected to return on April 25.
