Lions' CEO blames old order for defeat at elections

Accra, July 20, GNA - Desmond Frimpong Manso, Chief Executive Officer of Kpando Heart of Lions has blamed the 91healthy' old order for his inability to breakthrough at the Ghana Football Association's (GFA) Executive Committee elections.

Frimpong Manso was knocked out in the first round after garnering only five votes at the election for representatives of Premier League Clubs unto the 24-member Executive Committee held on Wednesday at the GFA Conference Room.

The first timer told GNA Sports after the elections that the presence of a healthy old order served his bane.

"It was not easy competing against the old guards. They were bent on retaining their seats and it made the race very difficult. "Most of them have been there for five years or more and have the experience and contacts."

He boasted that the five votes he polled was a good sign, tying with Jones Alhassan-Abu of Real Tamale United fame and ahead of Kofi Manu of Aduana Stars, who had four votes.

"To get five votes was not easy. I believed I had done enough but th= e electorates thought otherwise."

Frimpong Manso pledged his continuous support to the development of th= e game across the country. On those who got the nod, he said 93They deserve to be there." The six elected representatives from the Premier League unto the Executive Committee are Emmanuel Owusu Ansah (Asante Kotoko), Fred Crentsil (Hearts of Oak), Moses Armah (Medeama), Randy Abbey (Mighty Jets), Emmanuel Kyeremeh (Berekum Chelsea) and Felix Ansong (Liberty Professionals).
