MTN Soccer Academy launch rescheduled

The launch of the 2009 MTN Soccer Academy show will now take place on Monday 3rd August 2009 instead of the previously announced date. Due to certain circumstances beyond the organisers’ control, what should have been done on Friday has now been shifted to the very next working day which is Monday. The Soccer Academy show, started two years ago by Optimum Media Prime (OMP) is to create the platform for talented footballers to be unearthed at an early age and imbibed with not just soccer skills, but also educated on many other aspects of the game. The first two years in Ghana has been so successful that OMP has now extended the show to West African neighbours Nigeria.

It means that this year’s edition will have seven housemates each from Nigeria and Ghana with the show also to be screened in both nations via Metro TV in Ghana and AIT TV in Nigeria. MTN, the telecommunications giants in Africa and the Middle East maintain their sponsorship as is several other sponsors and donors.

Monday’s launch will kick off the 2009 event of which expectations on potential applicants are very high especially in Nigeria with the high population in that country.
