Ghana goalkeeper Azume Adams was named Player of the Match as the Black Maidens beat European champions Germany to reach the quarter-finals of the 2014 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup.
Two minutes before the break, Gladys Amfobea delivered a strong back post header from a sideline free-kick to give Ghana the lead and that was the match winner.
In the 11th and 26th minutes, Azume was on hand to keep out a free kick and tipped over her bar a thumping header by Lea as hurler.
The game generated into an end-to-end action in the closing stages and Azume and the back line built around captain Amina Fuiseni thwarted all their efforts.
