German side, FSV Mainz are fuming over their failure to sign striker, Prince Tagoe with the Ghanaian player rather agreeing a deal with Al Ittihad.

Tagoe was close to sealing a deal with Mainz but the move suffered a last minute setback with 19-year-old striker opting to sign for the Saudi Arabian side, Al Ittihad.

Mainz general manager Christian Heidel confirmed that the deal was off after the club failed to receive signed transfer confirmation from Ghana.

"We are not prepared to be messed about, that's the end of it as far as we are concerned," Heidel fumed.

"The whole business was very strange and extremely annoying."

But Heidel feels Tagoe?s move to play for the Saudi club would not help him develop as a player.

"If he thinks that he can develop better as a player there then he should go there.

"Signing him would have given our squad a great future," he added.

"We are not planning on signing anyone else now and will go into the last 16 games with the players we have."
