Jorge Mendes has offered Atletico Madrid’s Bernard Mensah to Manchester United, according to reports.
The Ghanaian youngster joined Atletico back in 2015 amid interest from a variety of big clubs, and currently finds himself on loan at Portuguese club Vitória de Guimarães.
Mensah, who plays primarily as either a No.10 or winger, is yet to make a senior appearance for Diego Simeone’s side, but has been tipped for a bright future by many in Spain.
And according to Mundo Deportivo’s Chema Fuente, Mendes – agent for the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, David De Gea, Diego Costa and many more – is willing to give Jose Mourinho priority over the 21-year-old.
Any client of Mendes – the most decorated agent in football today – is, by necessity, a special talent, and Mensah is no exception. Armed with raw firepower and skill, the Ghanaian can decimate defenders in a variety of ways.
He has featured mainly as a No.10 throughout his career, demonstrating an aptitude for carving out goalscoring opportunities with reckless abandon. However, from a personal point of view, his best position is on the flank: Mensah, unlike most wingers, can beat a full-back by charging down the outside as well as cutting in, giving the youngster an air of menace and unpredictability.
Bringing in a largely unproven youngster is, of course, always a risky move, but Mensah has already displayed enough to suggest that he could compete at the highest level.
