Marseille sweat on Ayew’s fitness

Olympique Marseille ace Andre Ayew will undergo further tests to determine the extent of his injury after sitting out Wednesday’s training session.

Coach Marcelo Bielsa will be hoping for the best after his influential midfielder Andre Ayew failed to turn up for training on Wednesday morning.

The Ghana international is suspected to have suffered a hamstring and remains a doubt to face Montpellier on Sunday.

“André Ayew did not participate in practice Wednesday morning in Marseille,” a Marseille statement read.

“The Ghanaian will undergo further test on Thurday to determine the extent of the injury.”

Andre came off the bench in Marseille’s season opener against Bastia which ended in a 3-3 draw.
