Medeama are under financial stress following the delay payment of appearance for reaching the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The two-time Ghanaian FA Cup holders are expected to travel to DR Congo this week to face TP Mazembe in their opening group A clash in Lubumbashi.

But the club is under serious financial stress amid the delay payment of their appearance fee in Africa's second rated inter-club competition, GHANAsoccernet.com can reveal.

The continent's governing body, CAF has dispatched monies to teams expected to participate in the CAF Champions League but Confederation Cup campaigners must wait a little longer.

The situation appears to have heightened the financial stress at the club as they seek to make a historic impression in their debut campaign.

The Mauve and Yellows need the cash to offset their bills and cater for the payment of traveling expenses ahead of their trip to the five-time African champions.

Medeama could fall on the Ghana FA for assistance in the worst possible scenario with the ambitious Ghanaian team keen on making a significant impact in the competition.

The club has spent over $300,000 in reaching the group stage for the first time, to out further financial pressure on the Tarkwa-based side.

The West Africans have drawn TP Mazembe (DR Congo), MO Bejaia(Algeria) and Young Africans (Tanzania).
