Accra, May 1, GNA - Dompim-based Medeamaa FC began their campaign for a slot on the premiership with a lone goal victory over Prestea Mine Stars on Saturday at the Ohene Djan Stadium, Accra.

Substitute Winfred Dormon scored the only goal of the match from a spot kick in the second half of the Zone Two Middle League clash. The result has thus served as a positive cause towards the ambitions of Medeamaa of joining the elite Division of Ghana football. Medeamaa were the dominant force in the scrappy first half but failed to break the deadlock with left winger Alhassan Nurudeen making a mess of the several goal scoring opportunities that came his way. In the second half, Medeemaa's coach Abdul Karim Zito brought on veteran midfielder Dormon and the latter brought his experience to bear on the team's game.

During one of their raids in the Mine Stars half in the 67th minute, midfielder Paul Danso was fouled by David Antwi in the penalty area compelling FIFA referee William Agbovi to whistle for a penalty. The resultant penalty kick was expectedly converted by Dormon. After the goal, it was Mine Stars who were on tops all the way but their forward line failed to make the most of the chances that came their way. In the other Zone Two match held at the Tema Park, Dwarfs beat West Ham 5-3.
