A leading radio station in the Western region, Melody FM, has confirmed that it will carry LIVE radio commentary broadcasts of the 2017 Ghana Beach Soccer League.

The announcement comes barely 24-hours after the Ghana Beach Soccer Association revealed that it would hold it's Congress on Friday 16th June.

They twin city based broadcaster is keen to play a bigger role in communities within and beyond it's catchment area.

This follows confirmation of the expansion of the Ghana beach soccer league from the Laboma Arena in Greater Accra.

For the first time, the Volta, Western and Central regions would also host some beach soccer league matches.

The development is seen as a major boost for the exciting sand sport which has run a league since 2011 with the sole sponsorship of CAL Bank.

Vice President of the GBSA Fred Afful has welcomed the commitment of Melody FM as great news.

" This is great and very timely too as we hope that other media houses from the various coastal regions would come out and emulate the support of Melody FM.

Full details of the package are expected to be revealed at congress next week but information available to Ghana Web indicates that it will include community relations/youth development programs/coaching and refereeing courses sponsored by Melody FM.

The General Manager of Melody FM, Ekow Shanders confirmed to Ghana web that his outfit has agreed a partnership deal with Beach Soccer Ghana.

According to Mr Shanders, the decision to partner beach soccer Ghana is a reflection of his station's commitment to the fastest developing sport in the country.

"I can confirm to you that, we have agreed with the GBSA to fully cover the upcoming season.

Beach Soccer is a sport that is played in coastal communities and as an influential radio station in Tadi, we find it prudent to help promote this sport".

The partnership deal has already started rolling from the Takoradi based station sponsoring flight and accommodation for a three man venues inspection team.
