Former Free State Stars defender Jonathan Mensah says his selection to the Ghana national team will help him settle well in Italy. Mensah has moved to Italy and will join Udinese soon after the Afcon in Angola and he tells KickOff.com that the continental tournament could not have come at a better time.
“The Africa Cup of Nations is the biggest tournament on the continent and playing there is one of the best things; after playing in the World Cup. This will help prepare me as a player in Italy as the standard there is high and I have to be ready,” he says.
Mensah also thanked the South African Premier League for helping him to grow as a player and for setting up his move to Italy as well.
“I have learnt a lot in South Africa and I will always make this my second home. I would like to come back here one day, whether to play or just for holiday. I know I will be here for the World Cup, but I also just to come on my own and enjoy myself.
“South Africa has been good to me and I will always have a space for it in my heart,” he says.
