Sekondi, Sept. 24, GNA - The Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) has begun series of activities to give the Blacks Stars a warm reception on October 11 this year when they clash against their Lesotho counterparts.

Apart from a planned colourful reception for both the Ghanaian Team and their visitors (Lesotho), the Assembly plans to organise a massive support base to fill the 20,000 capacity stadium to lend their maximum support to the team.

Mr Philip K. Nkrumah, the Metropolitan Chief Executive of the Assembly in a briefing with the media at Sekondi on Tuesday, said the Assembly will provide free bus services to pick spectators from vantage points within the Metropolis to and from the stadium. He said the Assembly will additionally provide brass band music at the four stands to make the spectators enjoy the game and make the proceedings lively at the stadium.

The Chief Executive said the involvement of the Assembly in the entire exercise was to give the Black Stars the needed support to win the match and also boost their moral in future tournaments at the venue. Mr Nkrumah said it is the hope and wish of the Assembly and the people of the Metropolis that the reception will convince the management of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to schedule more foreign and local matches to the stadium which has been lying fallow since after the Ghana CAN 2008 tournament.

He took the opportunity to appeal to radio presenters in the Metropolis to assist the Assembly in its mass support for the black stars campaign. Mr Nkrumah said series of meetings will also be held with the various stakeholders in the Metropolis to make the tournament a memorable one.
