"Midfield is my biggest headache" - Starlets coach

Accra, July 16, GNA - Coach of Ghana's Black Starlets, Sellas Tetteh said the midfield of his team remains his biggest headache as he prepares the team for the next World Cup scheduled for Korea next month. He told the GNA Sports that "my biggest headache now is to transform the midfield to a classy one that can withstand any team in the world.

"My prime need at this moment is to get a ball juggler who will make the attack a lot more potent". Coach Tetteh said he will look within the 25 players in camp for that exceptional quality which he envisages will help solve several problems for his squad.

The Liberty Professionals coach is also seeking to work on the cohesion of the team as the World Cup that spans August 18 to September 9 fast approaches.

Coach Tetteh is however pleased with the strength of his defence and attack.

Ghana, twice world champions in 1991 and 1995 are housed alongside Trinidad and Tobago, Germany and Colombia in Group F. The Starlets from July 23 will tour Japan in a two week tour in search of that needed international exposure which the Black Stars assistant coach believes remain crucial for the squad. "The Japan tour will mean less pressure on the boys. Training at home means more pressure on them with every one of them who patronise their sessions wanting a piece of the action". The team will round up its local preparation this week with four more players expected to be axed to pave way for the mandated 21 for the event which Ghana failed to qualify under coach Tetteh in 2003. Coach Tetteh was appointed less than sixty days to the Korea championships after his predecessor Fred Osam Doudo exited citing personal challenges.

He twice failed to qualify the team to both the African and the World Championship in 2001 and 2003 but remains buoyant that his charges will atone for his loss with a fine performance in Korea.
