Accra, Nov 11, GNA - Mr Joe Aggrey Deputy Minister of Education, Youth and Sports has expressed worry over the situation where the searchlight on the problems of Ghana soccer is so much centred on the chairmanship of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to the neglect of other pertinent issues.
In a speech read for him at the launch of the second edition of the Mylik Classic Under -19 Soccer Tournament, Mr Aggrey said pertinent issues such as giving the secretariat a free hand operate effectively in order to change the face of soccer administration has been ignored.
"Not much attention has been paid either to how the present constitution of the GFA is helping or working against the smooth running of soccer in the country.
"I can't understand how at this day and age, the issue of unqualified player is allowed to distort the face our premier league," Mr Aggrey stated.
The Deputy Minister called on the organizers of the tournament to ensure that there is transparency in the ages of players adding that it is high time the rules and regulations of such age competitions are respected.
"The cheating must stop and all participating clubs must be made to conform to the rules," Mr aggrey said.
He said cheating through age has contributed to the woes of Ghana soccer and urged the organizers and clubs taking part in the competition to display honesty and discipline so that the exercise would not be futile.
