Ministry of Chieftaincy and Culture praises LOC

Accra, Feb. 05, GNA - The Ministry of Chieftaincy and Culture, on Tuesday commended all stakeholders particularly the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for their efforts at promoting the Ghanaian culture. A statement issued in Accra said, the Ministry had taken particular notice of the rich display of the Ghanaian culture since the inception of the 26th MTN African Cup of Nations, especially during the opening ceremony at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium.

"As the Ministry expresses this appreciation it will also appreciate if the media, as an important tool for the integration of culture into every development agenda will complement these efforts by projecting it to our foreign visitors, especially during the CAN2008". It added that this could project other programmes that attracted foreigners to visit the country.

The statement said the media could also project the Ghanaian values through showing more Ghanaian movies on local television networks. "This, we believe will go a long way to project our film industry and develop it to the level of other films that are constantly being shown on our television and thereby indirectly marketing these to the foreign visitors who are currently in the country for CAN2008".
