Multichoice Ghana To Select Ten Resource Centers in 2012

Multichoice Ghana has announced the commencement of applications for selection into the Multichoice Resource Centre Programme for the year 2012.

Multichoice Ghana is inviting applications from high schools across the nation interested in the MRC initiative and become recipients of DStv hardware and the educational bouquet for free as it prepares to roll out another ten (10) MRC schools this year.

The DStv Educational Bouquet comprises of seven premium channels including National Geography, Discovery Channel, History Channel, SABC Africa, BBC World, Animal Planet and Mindset Learn.

With the support of the Ghana Education Service, there are currently 35 MRC schools with fully installed DStv sets as part of a broad MultiChoice community development strategy to leverage company assets and expertise towards development and growth of communities in which the company operates.

Head teachers of High Schools may enter the selection process by filling in an application form available at any of MultiChoice offices in Accra, Kumasi and Takoradi and also all regional offices of the Ghana Education Service.

The General Manager of Multichoice Ghana, Mr. Cecil Sunkwa-Mills outlined the educational objectives and focus of each of the MRCs in transforming learning in the classroom and improving learner performance.

"We are equipping educators with the required knowledge and skills to use information and communication technology (ICT) to improve teaching and learning practice. And also using specific educational channels provided in the MultiChoice education bouquet to support teaching and learning in the Ghanaian educational curriculum" he emphasised.

The Multichoice Recourse Centre Programme is part of Multichoice Africa's Corporate Social Responsibility which focuses on education by using digital satellite technology to support and enhance the learning and teaching experience across Africa.

The first Multichoice Resource Centre was established in 2004 as a corporate social investment by MultiChoice Africa. Since its inception, there are over 900 MultiChoice Resource Centres established in over 28 countries across the continent.
