Former New
Edubiase captain, Mumuni Abubakar, has already settled down at South Africa top
flight side Mamelodi Sundowns and has earmarked a successful stint with the
Premier Soccer League side to enable a move to greener pastures in European
football.
Mumuni was
inspirational as he led Edubiase to their highest ever league finish, 5th,
earning the move to Sundowns alongside clubmate and Glo Ghana Premier League
goalking Emmanuel Baffour.
Just weeks
after making the switch and the Ghana U-20 international is already basking in
the cordiality and atmosphere in Mamelodi.
“It’s nice,
really nice and the players are also very nice. They’ve been relating to us as
if we’ve been friends for a long time,” Mumuni told local media when he was in
town last week for the Black Satellites’ preparations for the Africa Youth
Championship
qualifier against Uganda.
He added: “Everybody
has welcomed us and are making every effort to make us feel at home. I must say
I’m already enjoying South Africa and I can only hope it gets better.”
He also
revealed his future plans: “I am praying to the Lord to help make my time in
South Africa very special.
“I want to
win trophies with Sundowns but I also pray that the Lord will help so South
Africa will not be my last stop but I will well so I get a better offer to go
to Europe.”
