Sulley Muntari has spoken of his delight after crowning his official debut for Inter with a goal in the Italian Supercup win last night.

The Nerazzurri lifted their first cup of the Jose Mourinho era by defeating Roma on penalties at the Stadio Olimpico following a thrilling 2-2 draw.

Muntari opened the scoring in the game with a powerful left foot shot, but Roma twice fought back to take the game into extra time.

After Dejan Stankovic had missed from the spot, the Giallorossi had the chance to win the cup, but Francesco Totti missed. Juan would soon after see his penalty saved, allowing Javier Zanetti to clinch victory for Inter.

“I am very happy to start this adventure with a goal,” said Muntari.

“My Inter teammates and the fans are fantastic, I really must thank everyone.”

Muntari, who signed from Portsmouth last month, has praised coach Jose Mourinho for the impact he has made since also arriving this summer.

“The Coach is very smart and you are happy to go into training, because he makes sure it is what the players want to do. He's a good man, too,” the Ghanaian concluded.
