could be available by end of November

Black Stars midfielder Sulley Muntari could be back in action by the end of the year after the Milan man damaged knee ligaments in the summer.

The midfielder was forced to undergo surgery after picking up the problem in a kick-about with friends in Ghana towards the end of June.

Muntari has taken another step to his comeback as he was part of a 17-man Milan squad that trained at the Milanello Sports centre on Wednesday afternoon.

He joined the squad to train on the raised pitch and started with a 20 minute warm up which included 80 metre print repetitions and running through obstacles. The squad then spent 20 minutes on aerobics and callisthenics but Muntari did not take part in the ball possession drills and a training match that followed. He did some individual exercises instead.

The Ghanaian midfielder is still making his way back from a knee injury and is not ready for match practice, despite beginning to take part of training sessions with the team.

Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport on Thursday reports that the player will soon have a medical in an effort to get the green light to resume training with the ball.

The newspaper claims that the former Inter player could be back in action towards the end of November.

This development could mean that Muntari may well be available for the Black Stars at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations if the team is able to overcome the Malawi hurdle this Saturday.

The 2013 Africa Cup of Nations is set to take place between January 19 and February 10 in South Africa.
