Berekum Chelsea striker Kofi Owusu has quashed allegations that his side played a fixed match against Hearts of Oak with the two clubs mutually agreeing for Hearts to win the game whiles he (Owusu) scored goals to boost his chances of winning the goal king.

Football fans who thronged the Accra Sports stadium on Sunday scoffed at the level of competition exhibited by both Chelsea and Hearts of Oak on the day with deep suspicion that the match was fixed.

It was widely rumoured that Chelsea had agreed with Hearts of Oak to win the game whiles Chelsea’s lead scorer Owusu to score at least two goals to close the chase on Nathaniel Asamoah’s 18 goal.

But Owusu has debunked the rumours, stressing, he scored real goals against Hearts and not fake ones.

“When I hear such claims, I feel completely embarrassed because that is not the only game I have scored”, Owusu told Atinka FM

“Why didn’t they make those allegations when I scored against Kotoko in Kumasi and when I scored at different centres”,

“Why did people not say that Chelsea paid Kotoko so I could score against them? Why are they talking about my goals against Hearts? This is unfair because I look forward to scoring two or more in the last game”

“Even Nathaniel Asamoah who was scoring from penalties, people didn’t talk about that.

Owusu has now scored 17 goals, one behind former Medeama SC attacker Nathaniel Asamoah, who joined Moroccan club Raja Casablanca last month.
