Accra, Nov 12, GNA - The second edition of the Mylik Classic U-19 Soccer Tournament was on Wednesday officially launched at a short ceremony in Accra.
The tournament, dubbed "Mylik Classic 2003" and slated between December 15-21, at the nation's Wembley, Accra Sports Stadium and the Kumasi Sports Stadia is expected to have eight teams competing for honours.
The eight teams which include four from Ghana, two from Europe and two from Africa will be on first come, first serve basis as according to the organizers, more than eight teams have been invited to participate in the six-day competition.
Mr. Kofi Bawuah, the brain behind the competition said so far, the Fayenood Academy team from Gomoa Fetteh and the Accra Hearts of Oaks's under 20 including the defending champions Kumasi Asante Kotoko have confirmed their participation and was hopeful that his outfit will get the required number before the date for the big show down.
He said Mylik will seek to improve upon the maiden edition which saw the U-20 team of Kumasi Asante Kotoko emerging as victors in the competition.
Mr. Bawuah said Mylik was in constant talks with a number of companies which have expressed interest to get on board in their quest to give the event an international dimension.
Though unable to outline the break down of the entire sponsorship package, he said participating teams will receive an overwhelming reward in the tournament that seeks to nurture talents to an appreciable level.
