NEC hoping to land Ajax defender Yakubu

A number of clubs are reported to be interested in signing Ajax's Ghanaian midfielder Yakubu Abubakari, who has dropped down in the pecking order in Amsterdam.

Dutch clubs RBC Roosendaal and Groningen as well as Danish outfit FC Copenhagen are all reported to interested in the 22-year-old player with Johan Neesken?s NEC emerging as favourites to land Yakubu.

NEC are reportedly keen on handing the Ghanaian first team experience on either a loan or permanent basis.

The players agent Ger Langendijk: "Soon we will look at what is best for that boy and then we will take a decision."

Abubakari is contracted to Ajax until the summer of 2006
