Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) yesterday in Abuja revealed that it had not received any word from both the Ghanaian and South Africa football associations on its request for friendlies with the Super Falcons, who are preparing to face Cameroun in one of the last matches of the London 2012 Olympics Games women football event. NFF Deputy General Secretary (Technical), Emmanuel Ikpeme, told Sportsinghana.com that the Federation has formally written the two football associations for games pitching the Super Falcons against the Black Queens and Banyana Banyana, adding that the South African FA has only written to acknowledge receipt of the request. “We want to use the two friendly matches to prepare the Super Falcons for the big task of securing one of the African slots for the Olympics. But as I speak to you now, we have not got any response from them, except the South African FA, which only wrote to acknowledge the receipt of our letter, with a promise to communicate to us,” he stated. The Abuja camp of the Super Falcons now has 25 players jostling to be part of the final team for the last qualifying game with Coach Eucharia Uche and Thomas Obliers, who just returned to Nigeria following the extension of his contract by one month, to lead the team. Obliers arrived Nigeria on Monday evening to join the rest of the team’s technical crew in the preparation for the September 29 first leg of the final game of the London 2012 Olympics qualifying match against Cameroun in Abuja. Obliers, who was part of the Super Falcons’ coaching crew at the just-concluded Women World Cup, told journalists yesterday that he was satisfied with the overall performance of Falcons in Germany, noting the team’s early exit at the World Cup was because the attackers could not score goals. “The girls played well but they have to learn to score goals. If we had scored against France the tournament could have favoured us. Against Germany we had chances to score but could not utilise them.
