Ghanaian international defender Nana Akwasi Asare is close to getting another trophy haul on a second consecutive season as his KAA Gent side are close to reaching the Belgian Cup final.
Asare, 29, starred for Gent as they posted a decent 2-1 win over a ten-man Club Brugge side at the GHELAMCO-arena on Thursday evening.
Gent recovered from an Abduoulaye Diaby first-half strike for the visitors as Sven Kums sealed the win after Brecht Dejaegere had levelled the scoring midway through the half.
Gent remain in three key competitions this season and look like they are gunning for a treble.
They are comfortable leaders in the Belgian Pro League race while they still in competition in the Uefa Champions League where they will face Wolfsburg on February 17 in the opening leg of their knock out clash.
And, they are also in contention for a place in the Belgian Cup final.
In all three competitions, the former WAFA defender who has captained KV Mechelen and FC Utrecht in Belgium and the Netherlands respectively has been influential in all campaigns.
He remains one of the best Ghanaian players abroad in the last two seasons and is the most consistent player in terms of appearances and performance this season.
