Nana Poku could have saved Ghana in Egypt - Lt. Col. Umar Sanda (Rtd)

Ghana’s Ambassador to Egypt, Lt. Col. Umar Sanda Ahmed (Rtd) believes the inclusion of Nana Poku in the Black Stars set up could have changed the outcome of the results against Egypt on Sunday.

In the aftermath of the Black Stars humbling at the hands of their Egyptian counterparts in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers at the Borg El-Arab stadium, many football populace have given their thoughts on the game.

And Umar Sanda was not left out as he thinks Nana Poku who plays for Misr Lel Makkasa and is joint second scorer in the Egyptian league should have been invited by the technical handlers of the team due to his exploits this campaign.

“I believe the coach should have included that boy [Nana Poku] in the squad because it baffles me that a player of his quality and the number of goals he’s scored in the Egypt league was not considered,” he said on Hot FM.

“In the absence of Asamoah Gyan, he could have caused the opponents havoc because he knows the terrain and the mentality of the Egyptians. He has shown his knack for goals; that’s why he’s among the top scorers in the league.”

“Everything is not lost though, and I’m optimistic of Ghana making it to the World Cup even though it’s a daunting challenge.”
