Neil wants to make Ghana world’s best soccer brand

GFA President aspirant Neil Armstrong-Mortagbe says he will take Ghana football to unprecedented heights and make the nation the best football nation on earth should he get the nod to succeed Kwesi Nyantakyi at the helm of the sport’s administration in the country.

Mr. Armstrong-Mortagbe says he will use his massive experience in football administration and marketing to properly brand and promote the unique identity of Ghanaian football, acquire sponsorships for all levels of the game and to actively support in sourcing sponsorship for clubs if he becomes the president of the GFA.

“The whole endeavour is not about me but the various investors in the game who deserve to reap where they have sown. I mean the fan who pays at the gate, the fan who stands to watch a colts football irrespective of no cash benefits, the media who are partners in football development and the real investors who put their cash into sponsorship, its time for everyone to reap dividends and this is what my bid is all my about,” Neil Armstrong told the press conference to formally launch his bid to wrestle power from Kwesi Nyantakyi when the FA holds elections next month.

An astute football administration marketing guru who is credited with working out the Goldfields Ghana Limited sponsorship of the Black Stars among many other football sponsorship revolutions in Ghana over the past five years including Premier League TV deals and Polytank’s $150,000 sponsorship of the Division One League, Neil Armstrong has brushed aside suggestions that he is a novice in the race for the topmost post in local football.

He maintains that he is very confident of victory in the elections slated for April 28. “I believe that God appoints kings and if he says its time for me to be king of Ghana football, then even I can’t stop it. If you don’t have appreciation for the David and Goliath story in the Bible then I tell you that’s my answer to those who think I am in this race for fun,” a confident Neil said.

The 41-year old who doubles as a FIFA Administrative Instructor and Treasurer of the Ghana League Clubs Association, (GHALCA) becomes the first person to officially declare his candidacy to contest incumbent Kwesi Nyantakyi for the April 28 election even though King Faisal CEO Vicent Odotei Sowah has also expressed interest since last year.
