New coach to be named in two weeks

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) will head-hunt for the new coach of the Black Stars instead of advertising the post.

The new coach will be appointed within two weeks as was the case with South Africa when Carlos Alberto Parreira quit the post.

Frenchman Claude Le Roy will quit the post at the end of the month but the GFA boss Kwasi Nyantakyi says a successor will be appointed before Ghana plays Australia on 23 May.

With the World Cup qualifiers starting a week later with the clash against Libya, the GFA boss says there is little time for an interviewing process as has been done in the past.

"When South Africa lost Carlos Alberto Parreira they picked who they though could do the job," Nyantakyi said.

"We will do the same thing here. We don?t have enough time to go through the advertising process."

Marcel Desailly and Ralf Zumdick are the front runners to take over from Le Roy.

LeRoy's last game in charge of Ghana will be in the African Nations Championships qualifier return leg against Togo.

LeRoy became Ghana coach in September 2006 and guided the side to a third place at the 2008 Nations Cup.

Some of his highlights included a 4-1 win over Nigeria but there was also 0-5 loss to Saudi Arabia in an international friendly.
