Newcastle have signed Ghana winger Christian Atsu on loan from Chelsea with the option of a future permanent purchase.
The 24-year-old signed for the Blues from Porto back in 2013 showing lots of promise, yet he hasn’t gotten a chance to actually play for the London side, having spent the last three years on loan at Vitesse,Everton,West Bromwich Albion and Malaga.
Newcastle have started the Championship campaign with the aim of an immediate return to the Premier League. They have lost a winger in Andros Townsend to Crystal Palace this summer, and probably view Atsu as a replacement.
The Ghana international has loads of pace and could offer the Magpies a great option going forward.
He has made 42 appearances for his country, and will be hoping that this latest move will either earn him a permanent deal or a shot at playing in Chelsea’s first team.
