Accra, Jan. 26, GNA - The Nigeria University Sports Association (NUSA) soccer team, on Tuesday demonstrated a high fighting spirit to hold their Ghanaian counterparts (Ghana University Sports Association, GUSA) 2-2 in an international friendly match played at the Ajax Park, University of Ghana, Legon.
The match, which formed part of the teams preparations towards the 23rd World University Games scheduled for Izmir, Turkey, in August, this year saw the Nigerians opening the scores through Debola Ogunjeyi in the 25th-minute from a smooth build-up through the Ghanaian defence. GUSA accepted the challenge and took the game to their opponents and after series of raids into the opponent's area managed to earn the much-needed equaliser on the stroke the first 45 minute from the foot of Bernard Obeng.
Ten minutes later, Edward Nkansah increased the tally for Ghana to put his side on the path of victory, but this failed to materialise as Elesami Olugbenga cancelled the deficit for the Nigerians in the 89th-minute.
The two teams will meet again on Wednesday at the same venue.
