Nigeria Under-23 goalkeeper Dele Ajiboye has been ruled out of this Sunday’s crucial All Africa Games qualifying match against Ghana in Kumasi due to a shoulder injury.
Ajiboye picked up the problem during the first leg tie a fortnight ago but played through the pain barrier to finish the match.
The Spain-based goalkeeper has been advised to take a three-week rest after further checks on the injury at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital.
“It’s painful because this is a crucial game but I will keep to the doctor’s advice as my career is also on the line. But I have confidence in the other goal keepers we have in camp, ” Ajiboye said.
Kano Pillars goalkeeper Theophilus Afelokhai will replace him as first choice.
Nigeria go into the match with a 3-1 advantage and hold the aces to qualify for the finals which will be held in Maputo, Mozambique this September.
