FORMER Kumasi Asante Kotoko and King Faisal stalwart defender, Abass Inusah has denied reports linking him with a comeback to the Porcupine Warriors after being spotted at Kotoko's training grounds at the Ridge Park in Kumasi.

Inusah who plies his trade with Silver Stars FC in South Africa, intimated that he was only at the training grounds to see former colleague and team mate at Supersports FC in South Africa, Stephen Oduro, who is now back home to re-launch his career with the Porcupine Warriors for an important discussion.

Speaking to 90 Minutes at our Kumasi office, the tall, gangling defender said he might only return to play for a local club in Ghana at the twilight of his career before hanging his boots. For now he said his main priority is to finish the remaining year left on his contract with the South African outfit and then look elsewhere, preferably Europe to continue his footballing career.

Asked why he left Supersport FC to Silver Stars FC also in the SPL, Inusah said a combination of factors including the need for the coach to field some local players to please the hierarchy of the club meant that he saw less playing time. Therefore the coach only used him for the away matches and only featured in about thirty minutes or less whenever they played at home. He therefore sat down with the management of the club to engineer his move away to Silver Stars.

Touching on his career threatening head injury which took him away from the game for almost five months, Inusah said he was relieved that episode of his life is past as it was a really difficult and nightmarish experience for him with doctors warning that they might have to insert a metal plate in his head.

“I'm happy that I've fully recovered as my mum too was worried after hearing that I had been seriously injured. My phone too was always buzzing and as a result I had to switch my phone off” he said. But he is only grateful that it never got to that and he is now back to his best form. When asked whether he's ready to answer a call-up to the national team, he replied in the affirmative and said he's always willing to play for any of the national sides should the authorities invite him.
