RANDY ABBEY CLARES THE AIR

It is now confirmed that Laryea Kinston cannot play for Ghana in the first round in next summer?s world cup in Germany.

Speaking to Space FM in Sunyani the FA?s spokesperson said, the Football Authority received a letter from Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) on Friday confirming Laryea Kingston?s ineligibility to play for Ghana in the first round of the 2006 World Cup.

It would be recalled that, in the just ended nation?s cup held in Egypt, both Laryea Kingston and Habib Beye of Senegal were sent off in a group E match between Ghana and Senegal.

Subsequently, the Disciplinary Committee of Confederations of African Football imposed a four match ban on each of the two players plus a thousand dollar-fine.

Concerning the black stars, he said the friendly match which was supposed to take place in Tehran on March 29 against the Iranian national team has been called off. He said since the proposed date is not a FIFA date for friendly matches and as such it will be difficult to assemble all the required players especially, those plying their trade outside.

He also confirmed the appointment of Sir Cecil Jones Atoquayefio and Sam Arday as scouts for Ratomir Dujkovic. Their main duty is to monitor the progress of Ghana?s group opponents in the next football mundial, scheduled for Germany.
