Footy-ghana.com understands that Asante Kotoko striker Kofi Nti Boakye is prepared to offer former club Asante Kotoko an amount in the region of $75,000 as a gift.

According to our sources, Nti Boakye has decided to do so of his own free will, after signing for Libyan club Al Ahly Tripoli as a free agent, thus denying Asante Kotoko the right to benefit financially from the transfer.

Footy-ghana.com can confirm that Nti Boakye’s deal with Asante Kotoko expired today (August 9 2013) and he signed a three-year contract with the Libyan club with the contract set to take effect from August 10 2013.

Footy-ghana.com can also confirm that Nti Boakye as a result received a total amount of money in the region of $900,000 in transfer/enticement fees, part of which would be used to settle agents involved in the deal.

Asante Kotoko has written to the GFA to complain about the turn of events and stating that the club is entitled to a healthy slice of the transfer/enticement fee, given that Nti Boakye signed the contract three days before his deal with Asante Kotoko expired.

Footy-ghana.com now understands that the set of circumstances has led Nti Boakye to offer the amount as a gift in appreciation of the club’s services to him during his 18-month stay in Kumasi.

Nti Boakye won two Premier League titles with Asante Kotoko before leaving for Libya.
