Nyaho: Duncan is the man for Hearts

Former Accra Hearts of Oak Chairman, Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe has passed a massive dose of confidence in new coach, David Duncan to lead the club back to their glory days. Long gone are the days when Hearts conquered the African Champions’ League and were unrivalled champions in Ghana. These days, the Phobians are more famous for one defeat to another, one revived dream crushed within no time and constant replacement and dismissal of coaches.

They recorded the first coaching casualty of the 2012/13 season by sacking former national team captain, C.K. Akunnor barely five games into the new campaign. In stepped former national junior team coach, Duncan who recorded a win and two away draws in his first 3 games but was given a reality check on Sunday by Ashantigold who stormed Accra and run away with all 3 points. Hearts currently lie 9th on the log on a paltry 12 points from a possible 30 but the often demanding Nyaho, ironically insists Coach Duncan is leading a revival at the club which can only be encouraged.

“The club has no problem, Hearts of Oak have no problem. They are building a team and building up a team takes time especially with the coach they have now, there is a bright future. Their progress so far is impressive and very good,” Nyaho told 90 MINUTES after the home loss to Ashantigold.

He will also not rule out a run for the league title come end of season even though Hearts have already fallen 8 points behind the leaders with a third of the season gone.

“They are playing well and have a future. I have been in football for a long time even before you were born and it’s not every time that you win. The fact that they lost doesn’t mean that there is a problem. Even if you watched their play and performance (against Ashgold), it’s been a long time since I saw Hearts of Oak play well like that,” Nyaho told us.
