Ghana FA chief, Kwesi Nyantakyi has labeled the title aspiring

national team as underdogs at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations. The Black Stars

are desperate to end a 31 year wait for silverware with every of 25 million

countrymen expecting nothing than the trophy when they return home after

February 10’s final. But the head of Ghana’s mission to conquer Africa in South

Africa is waxing lyrical about the pressure that comes with the huge task.

“This team, they are underdogs because we have a lot of

players who are making their debuts in this competition. There are about ten

players who have never been to the Africa Nations’ Cup before,” Nyantakyi told

newsmen at the team’s tournament base in Port Elizabeth.

Mr. Nyantakyi is however adamant that his management committee

will do everything to power the ‘underdogs’ to an unlikely victory come end of

tournament: “We have managed this team so well so that they are not influenced

negatively by any form of pressure. We are mindful that the team must be well

composed, they must play without any pressure so that they can deliver the

mandate we have given them which is to win this trophy.”
