OFFICIAL: GFA appoints Zumdick as a stand-in coach

Accra, Sept 10, GNA- The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has appointed Mr Ralph Zumdick, a former coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko as a stand-in coach of the Black Stars for a period of three months.

A statement signed by Mr Ben Kouffie, chairman of the GFA on Wednesday said the appointment of Mr Zumdick, who until recently was the head coach of King Faisal Football Club, was largely influenced by the fact that, "he is quite familiar with the terrain in Ghana and is available to assist in filling a vacuum in view of the impending World Cup qualifying matches with Somalia to be played on October 12 and 26 at home and away respectively"

Mr Abedi Pele Ayew, a board member of the GFA has also been appointed the General Manager of all the National teams to enable him to get more time to collate the Curriculum Vitae of more coaches to enable the Association to have ample time to appoint a good substantive coach. In a related development, Mr Oti Akenteng, Head Coach of Obuasi Golfields has been appointed the head coach of the Black Meteors, the national under-23 side with Mr Kuuku Dadzie as his assistant, while Mr Opoku Afriyie acts as Welfare Officer.

Mr Charles Botchway will be the Masseur while Dr Adams Baba becomes the Medical Officer in charge with Alhaji Dodoo Ankrah becoming the goalkeepers' coach for both the Black Stars and the Meteors. Mr Zumdick a German coached Kotoko last season, helping them to the finals of the African Cup Winners Cup where they lost to WAC of Morocco.
